On Sunday, Rob and I teamed up for Millennium Bassmasters open out of the Small Boat Harbor. Again, weather was supposed to be quite pleasant with little to no wind and warmer temps. At blast off we went right back to those ridges.
Water was abit clearer than the previous day, with clarity up to a foot and a half or so. Still very bad for this lake. I can remember times sight fishing in 30+ feet before.
Wind started light out of the southeast. We made our fish drift, and I had a fish in the boat within 30 seconds or so. They were still here!! After a few drifts, we boated several, but nothing to exceptional, just 2 pounders. The wind began to shift more out of the east. We had to reposition our start so we could continue to hit the ridge while drifting. Rob latched into a good one about an hour into the event. A nice 5 pounder was put in the boat. A great start!!
Over the next several hours the the wind continued to switch, and by the end of the day it was northeast and it increased. The increase in the wind also increased the fishing activity. We began catching many fish at this point, but all just 2 to 3 pounders. Clones!! By the end of the day all we could put with that 5 pounder is one a little over 3 and a half. We just couldn't get one more big bite that we needed!
At the scales, we officially weighed 8.71 pounds. All three of the top bags were again between 10 1/2 and 11 pounds.
